Afrominimalism

Afrominimalism

Afrominimalism has abstractions of Black hair products made from found fabrics and polyfill spilling out of a medicine cabinet body With deflated fabric limbs and head jutting out of the sides of the cabinet torso. Black femmes spend more on beauty supplies than any other demographic. There is this overwhelming value on the black dollar over the black body that exist and has only been exacerbated each year. A lot of the hair products that the abstracted soft sculptures depict come from formally black owned companies or where never black owned. The amount of products that take up space in black homes. Often products that don't work with their hair, aren't black owned, or aren't deemed safe by any bureau fill the corners of black homes.
